The Anti-Kink Hose Pipe Holder Support is a rigid black ABS plastic channel that holds a flexible hose or pipe at a fixed bend radius so it cannot flatten, collapse or kink. The cross-section is an open U-groove with ribbed walls: the hose is pressed sideways into the channel, and the rigid curve then carries the bend in place of the hose wall. It is supplied in four fixed bend angles — 45°, 90°, 120° and 180° — and twenty-three sizes from 3mm to 25mm, sized to the outside diameter of the hose or pipe being supported. The 180° version has a straight cross-brace across the open end of the U-turn to hold the two legs parallel.

A hose kinks when it is bent tighter than its own wall can hold. The bore folds flat, flow stops, and the crease that is left behind becomes a permanent weak point that will fold again in the same place. Dropping the hose into the channel of this support moves that bend into a rigid part, so the curve is held at a radius the hose can take and the bore stays round all the way through the turn. Because the hose presses in from the side rather than threading through, the support can be added to a run that is already installed, slid along the hose later, or taken off again without disturbing either end.

Choose the angle by how far the hose has to turn. The 45° support suits a gentle change of direction; the 90° suits a right-angle turn around a bulkhead, panel edge or into a fitting; the 120° suits a tighter change of direction where the hose comes back on itself; and the 180° suits a full U-turn, with its cross-brace holding the two legs parallel. Choose the size by measuring across the outside diameter of the hose or pipe rather than the bore — a 19mm support is made for 19mm outside diameter hose. Where a hose falls between two sizes, the closer of the two will seat better in the channel.

The size range covers far more than garden hose. From 3mm to 12mm it suits vacuum, breather, washer and small-bore fuel and pneumatic lines, as well as tidying cable and wiring runs. How to measure OD

Measure across the outside
Rigid pipe, tube and joiners are sized by the outer wall, because that is the surface a hose seals against. The bore and wall thickness follow from it — they are not the ordering size.

Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.

Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the tube is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still clamps down evenly.

Match the hose to this OD
The hose sleeves over the tube, so the hose you want is the one whose internal diameter equals this outside diameter. A 51 mm tube takes a 51 mm ID hose.
Order by OD, always. Tube, rigid pipe and joiners are listed by outside diameter — the surface the hose clamps onto. Pair one with a hose of the same ID. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

What does an anti-kink hose pipe holder support actually do?

It is a rigid curved channel that holds a flexible hose or pipe at a fixed bend radius. A hose kinks when it is bent tighter than its own wall can hold, at which point the bore folds flat and flow stops. Pressing the hose into the channel moves the bend into the rigid part instead, so the curve is held at a radius the hose can take and the bore stays round through the turn.

What is the bar across the 180 degree version?
