What is van lining carpet?

A four-way stretch carpet for lining van and campervan interiors - walls, ceilings, panels, wheel arches, bulkheads and furniture. The four-way stretch is the point: it pulls round curves and into recesses without creasing or needing to be cut into patches, which is what makes a professional-looking conversion achievable.

What colours do you stock?

Anthracite, beige, black, silver and smoke - five colours, plus a sample pack covering the range. Anthracite and black are the most popular for a workmanlike finish; silver and smoke lift a darker interior; beige suits a warmer camper look. There is enough range to do a two-tone interior.

What adhesive should I use?

A high-temperature contact spray - we stock Ultra Adhesive and Trimfix, both 500ml. Ordinary spray adhesive fails in a vehicle interior, which gets very hot parked in summer sun. Spray both surfaces, let them tack off until touch-dry, then bond from the centre outwards.

How do I fit it?

Work panel by panel. Cut generously oversize, spray both the panel and the back of the carpet, let them tack, then bond from the centre out, easing and stretching gently into recesses and around curves as you go. Trim once it is stuck, and wrap edges round the back of removable panels for a clean finish.

How much do I need?

Measure every panel, add for wrapping edges and for the stretch, then add a margin for mistakes - and order it all in one go. Running short mid-job is expensive because a second batch may not match exactly, and a visible shade difference on a large panel is not something you can hide.

Is it fire rated?

It carries FMVSS 302, the motor vehicle interior flammability standard. That is the benchmark used for vehicle interior materials, and it is worth checking on anything you line a vehicle with - a lot of general upholstery carpet sold for the purpose has no such rating.
