Type B Hose

Type B hose offering reliable performance for a wide range of industrial uses.

What is cotton braided fuel hose?

A small-bore fuel and oil hose with a rubber inner lining and an external cotton braid. The braid gives it strength and flexibility while producing the woven appearance that suits classic and restoration work. Built to DIN 73379 Type B, in 3mm to 12mm bores.

What is it used for?

Carburettor feeds, injector and fuel return lines, breather and tank vent lines, and general small-bore fuel and oil transfer in automotive, agricultural and industrial use. It is the natural choice wherever an original hose was cloth-braided and you want to keep that look.

What sizes and lengths do you supply?

13 sizes from 3mm to 12mm internal diameter, cut to order from 1 metre up to a 50 metre full coil. Order by internal diameter matched to the outside diameter of the barb or spigot - it should be a firm push fit, not a loose slide.

Is it E5 and E10 compatible?

Yes - the rubber inner lining is formulated for modern ethanol-blended fuels as well as diesel and oils. On a classic that is important: original cloth-braided hose from decades ago was never made for ethanol and degrades from the inside while the braid still looks perfectly presentable.

Why choose it over plain rubber fuel hose?

Appearance, mainly - on a classic engine bay a smooth modern hose looks obviously wrong where a braided one looks right. The braid also adds a degree of abrasion resistance. For a modern vehicle where nothing is on show, plain fuel hose is cheaper and equally suitable.

Can I use ordinary hose clips on it?

Yes - unlike stainless overbraid, cotton braided hose takes conventional clips perfectly well. Use mini fuel hose clips in the smaller bores, sized to the outside diameter of the fitted hose. Do not over-tighten: the braid marks and the rubber underneath is thin in these sizes.
