What clear and reinforced PVC hose do you stock?
Reinforced clear hose with polyester braid at 4-10 bar in 5mm to 51mm; wire reinforced clear hose at 3-12 bar in 10mm to 51mm for suction duty; unreinforced clear tube in 3mm to 25mm for low-pressure work; and the reinforced range in blue and red as well as clear. Also in this range are PVC LPG hose and vehicle-specific demist and washer tubing.

Why choose clear hose?
Because you can see what is happening inside it - flow, air locks, blockages, contamination and the point at which a tank runs dry. That is genuinely useful on pump, transfer and laboratory work, and it makes it obvious when the hose needs cleaning. The trade-off is that light lets algae grow if water stands in it outdoors.

What is the difference between the three constructions?
Unreinforced is plain tube for low-pressure gravity feeds and light transfer only. Reinforced has polyester yarn braid for 4-10 bar but no collapse resistance, so it is a delivery hose. Wire reinforced has a steel helix for 3-12 bar and holds its bore under suction. Using a braided hose on a suction line is the classic mistake.

What temperature will PVC hose take?
-10C to +65C across the range, built to BS6066. That is the fundamental limitation of PVC - anything hot needs rubber or silicone instead. PVC also stiffens noticeably in cold weather, which matters if the hose is handled outdoors in winter. Uncoil it gently on a frosty morning rather than yanking it straight.

Is it safe for drinking water or food use?
The standard range is general-purpose industrial hose and is not certified for potable water or food contact. If you need a certified food-grade or potable hose, tell us the application and we will point you at an appropriately certified product. It is not an area where an assumption is worth making.

Why has my clear hose gone cloudy?
Usually algae growth from light exposure with water standing inside, or mineral scaling. Flush and drain after use and store out of direct sunlight. If the discolouration will not flush out, switch to a coloured or black hose for that application - blocking the light stops algae forming in the first place.
