Worm Drive Hose Clip is a versatile and reliable fastening solution designed for securing hoses and pipes in automotive, agricultural, marine, and industrial applications. Manufactured from zinc-plated or stainless steel, the clip provides excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and consistent clamping strength. Built to DIN3017 standards, it features a solid 12 mm wide band with a precision-engineered worm drive mechanism, tightened using a 7 mm slotted hex screw. With an operating temperature range of -40°C to +180°C (peak +190°C), Worm Drive Hose Clip is suitable for use in both high- and low-temperature environments where secure hose fastening is required.

Key Features:

  • Material: Zinc-plated or stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance.

  • Design: Worm drive with slotted 7 mm hex screw for easy tightening and adjustment.

  • Band Width: 12 mm solid steel band for even clamping force.

  • Band Thickness: 0.8 mm for durability without excessive bulk.

  • Operating Temperature: -40°C to +180°C (peak +190°C).

  • Clip Range: Available from 9 mm to 165 mm diameter.

  • Standard: DIN3017 compliant.

The worm drive mechanism ensures precise and secure adjustment, allowing the clip to deliver uniform clamping pressure and prevent leaks or hose slippage. Its corrosion-resistant finish ensures long service life in outdoor and demanding environments, while the slotted hex screw provides flexibility for tightening with either a screwdriver or spanner. Compact yet durable, the clip is suitable for both light-duty and heavy-duty use across multiple industries.

Applications include securing radiator hoses, coolant systems, silicone hoses, agricultural irrigation lines, marine fuel and water systems, and general-purpose pipework. Worm Drive Hose Clip provides a cost-effective, easy-to-use, and dependable solution for hose fastening across a wide range of mechanical, automotive, and industrial applications.

How to size a clip

hose OD clip band pipe clip size = hose OD = bore + (2 × wall)
1
Measure over the hose, not the pipe
A clip closes around the outside of the hose once the hose is already on its fitting. That outside diameter is the clip size — the bore the hose runs on is not.
2
Or work it out from the hose's own figures
If the hose is not to hand, take its internal diameter and add twice the wall thickness — both are listed in that hose's own Size Guide. A 19 mm bore silicone hose has a 4.5 mm wall, so it measures 28 mm across the outside.
3
Use vernier calipers, keep the largest reading
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the assembled joint and rotate 60° between readings. Hose is soft and rarely perfectly round, so size to the biggest figure.
4
Pick the range that spans your figure
Aim for the middle of a clip's range rather than either end. Wound out near its limit a clip has little thread left to bite on; at the bottom of its range it may not open far enough to pass over the hose in the first place.
Size the clip to the hose OD, not the bore. A 19 mm hose does not take a 19 mm clip — with a 4.5 mm wall it measures about 28 mm across the outside. Every figure on this page is the outside diameter the clip closes on.

Worm Drive Hose Clip

✅ 7mm Hex Head ✅ 12mm Band Width ✅ 0.8mm Thick

What is it and when do I use it?

The standard hose clamp - a slotted steel band tightened by a screw that engages the slots. It is the general-purpose choice for coolant, water and low-pressure air, and is what most original-equipment hose joints use. Use it for coolant, water and low-pressure air; for boost pipework step up to a T-bolt clamp.

What sizes do you stock?

Adjustment ranges run from 9mm to 12mm up to 135mm to 165mm across 18 sizes. Available in 1 clip, 10 clips, 50 clips and 100 clips.

How do I choose the right size?

Size to the outside diameter of the hose once fitted over the pipe, not to the hose bore. Clips are listed by adjustment range and your fitted diameter should sit around the middle of it - a clip at the very end of its travel either will not close far enough or has almost no thread engaged.

What is the difference between W1 and W4?

Available in W1 Zinc Plated and W4 Stainless Steel. W1 is zinc-plated steel - cheaper, fine for dry indoor use. W4 is stainless throughout, band, housing and screw, which is what you want for weather, coolant, road salt or a marine environment.

When is it not the right clip?

On boost, intercooler and turbo pipework. A worm drive concentrates its force near the screw housing, its perforated band can bite into soft silicone, and it loses tension through heat cycling. Use a T-bolt clamp there.

How tight should it be?

Firm, not crushed. Compress the hose evenly against the pipe without the band biting in - over-tightening causes more leaks than under-tightening. Re-check after the first few heat cycles, because the joint beds in and a clip that felt tight cold usually needs a small nip.
