Silicone Radiator Hose is a durable, heat-resistant straight hose designed for efficient coolant transfer in automotive, industrial, and marine applications. Manufactured with high-grade silicone inner and outer layers reinforced by strong polyester braid, this hose delivers excellent pressure stability, flexibility, and resistance to ageing. Built to SAE J20 R3 standards, it ensures reliable performance in high-temperature environments, operating continuously between -50°C and +220°C, withstanding peaks of up to +250°C. Its multi-ply wall construction offers both strength and flexibility, while the smooth bore design ensures efficient coolant and fluid flow. Supplied in convenient 1-metre lengths and a wide range of diameters, silicone radiator hose provides long-lasting service in engine bays, heavy machinery, and custom-builds where durability and heat resistance are critical.

Key Features:

  • Material (Inner & Outer): High-grade silicone for heat and ageing resistance.

  • Reinforcement: Polyester braid for stability and strength under pressure.

  • Construction: 3–4 ply with smooth bore for efficient coolant flow.

  • Operating Temperature: -50°C to +220°C (peak +250°C).

  • Internal Diameter Range: 6 mm to 152 mm.

  • Working Pressure: Up to 8.3 bar (small bore) down to 1.5 bar (large bore).

  • Bursting Pressure: Typically 3x working pressure (up to 27 bar).

  • Length Supplied: 1 metre straight sections.

  • Standard: SAE J20 R3 compliant.

The silicone radiator hose combines multiple layers of reinforced polyester braid with resilient silicone, providing excellent flexibility and pressure tolerance. Its ability to withstand extreme temperatures makes it especially suited to engine coolant transfer, industrial thermal management, and marine cooling systems. The thick multi-ply wall construction provides stability against pressure cycling, while the silicone exterior resists ozone, UV, and environmental degradation for extended service life. With smooth internal walls that minimise turbulence and pressure loss, the hose ensures efficient coolant circulation and dependable system performance. Burst pressures up to three times the working rating deliver a robust safety margin for critical operations, while 1-metre supply lengths support easy installation and replacement in custom setups.

Applications include automotive radiators, intercooler and turbo coolant routing, marine cooling systems, agricultural engines, motorsport builds, and industrial equipment requiring resilient coolant transfer. Silicone radiator hose is widely used in maintenance, upgrades, and high-performance engineering projects where conventional rubber hoses are prone to failure. Keywords: silicone radiator hose, reinforced silicone coolant hose, high-temperature coolant line, polyester braided silicone hose, SAE J20 R3 straight silicone hose, industrial coolant transfer hose.

How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Silicone stretches slightly. If you land between sizes, go down to the smaller bore for a tight seal — never up.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

What size do I order?

Order by internal diameter, matched to the outside diameter of the pipe stub or joiner it slides over. Measure the pipe with vernier callipers rather than the old hose, which stretches in service and reads large. Available in internal diameters from 6mm to 152mm, in blue, black and red.

What is it rated for?

Continuous service from -50C to +250C, built to SAE J20 R3. Working pressure runs from 8.3 bar on the smallest bore down to 1.5 bar on the largest, with burst pressure from 27 bar down to 4.5 bar across the 13mm to 152mm range. Smaller bores are 3 ply and larger bores step up to 4 ply - each size is built with the reinforcement it needs, so you do not have to specify it.

Can I use it for fuel or oil?

No - standard silicone swells and degrades in contact with petrol, diesel and oil, including the oil mist carried in a breather line. Use our Fuel & Oil silicone, which has a fluorosilicone liner built to SAE J30 R6.

Can I bend it round a corner?

Only gently. Straight hose has a minimum bend radius and the larger the bore the larger it is - force it tighter and the bore kinks, restricting flow and creating a stress point. For a real change of direction use a moulded elbow; we stock 45, 90, 135 and 180 degrees.

How do I cut it cleanly?

Use a sharp blade or a dedicated hose cutter and cut square in one decisive stroke. Never use a hacksaw - it drags the reinforcement plies and leaves a frayed edge that will not seal. If you have several cuts to make, a proper hose cutter pays for itself quickly.

What colours are available?

blue, black and red. Colour is cosmetic and makes no difference to the specification. If you are building a full system, order everything together - shades are consistent within a batch but can differ slightly between them.
