Silicone Heater Hose is a flexible, heat-resistant hose engineered for coolant and heating applications in automotive, marine, agricultural, and industrial systems. Constructed with a smooth extruded silicone compound inner layer, reinforced with a 2-ply polyester braid, and finished with a durable silicone outer layer, the hose offers reliable thermal stability, pressure resistance, and long service life. Designed to SAE J20 R3 standards, it operates continuously between -30°C and +200°C, withstanding peak temperatures up to +220°C. Its multi-layer construction ensures durability under thermal cycling, vibration, and continuous use. Supplied in long 50-metre coils, the silicone heater hose is available in internal diameters from 6 mm to 25 mm, making it versatile for both performance and heavy-duty applications.

Key Features:

  • Inner Layer: Smooth extruded silicone compound for efficient coolant flow.

  • Reinforcement: 2-ply polyester braid for pressure stability and strength.

  • Outer Layer: High-quality silicone for resistance to ozone, heat, and environmental wear.

  • Construction: Multi-ply reinforced hose with smooth bore for reliable circulation.

  • Operating Temperature: -30°C to +200°C (peak +220°C).

  • Internal Diameter Range: 6 mm to 25 mm.

  • Working Pressure: Up to 9 bar (smaller sizes) down to 6 bar (larger sizes).

  • Bursting Pressure: Up to 27 bar (typically 3x working pressure).

  • Bending Radius: From 70 mm to 192 mm depending on bore size.

  • Standard: SAE J20 R3 compliant.

The silicone heater hose is designed to provide consistent performance in high-temperature environments, offering excellent resistance to coolant additives, ageing, and cracking. Its polyester reinforcement enhances pressure handling while maintaining flexibility for easy installation. The smooth bore supports efficient coolant flow with minimal restriction, reducing system stress and ensuring stable operation. With working pressures up to 9 bar for smaller diameters and burst pressures up to three times greater, the hose provides a strong safety margin. The long coil format supports large-scale or continuous system installations, making it ideal for industrial and OEM applications.

Applications include automotive heating and cooling circuits, marine engine systems, agricultural equipment, industrial machinery, and motorsport builds. Silicone heater hoses are widely used where reliable thermal performance and durability are required, offering superior longevity compared to conventional rubber hoses. How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Silicone stretches slightly. If you land between sizes, go down to the smaller bore for a tight seal — never up.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

What size do I order?

Order by internal diameter, matched to the outside diameter of the pipe stub or joiner it slides over. Measure the pipe with vernier callipers rather than the old hose, which stretches in service and reads large. Available in internal diameters from 6mm to 25mm, lengths from 1 Metre to 50 Metres, in black, blue and red.

What is it rated for?

Continuous service from -30C to +200C, built to SAE J20 R3. Working pressure runs from 9 bar on the smallest bore down to 6 bar on the largest, with burst pressure from 27 bar down to 18 bar across the 6mm to 25mm range.

Can I use it for fuel or oil?

No - standard silicone swells and degrades in contact with petrol, diesel and oil, including the oil mist carried in a breather line. Use our Fuel & Oil silicone, which has a fluorosilicone liner built to SAE J30 R6.

Can I bend it round a corner?

Only gently. Straight hose has a minimum bend radius and the larger the bore the larger it is - force it tighter and the bore kinks, restricting flow and creating a stress point. For a real change of direction use a moulded elbow; we stock 45, 90, 135 and 180 degrees.

How do I cut it cleanly?

Use a sharp blade or a dedicated hose cutter and cut square in one decisive stroke. Never use a hacksaw - it drags the reinforcement plies and leaves a frayed edge that will not seal. If you have several cuts to make, a proper hose cutter pays for itself quickly.

What colours are available?

black, blue and red. Colour is cosmetic and makes no difference to the specification. If you are building a full system, order everything together - shades are consistent within a batch but can differ slightly between them.
