Silicone Hump Hose is a flexible, high-performance coupling designed to absorb vibrations and slight misalignments in automotive, marine, and industrial systems. Manufactured from a smooth extruded silicone compound and reinforced with multiple layers of polyester braid, the hose delivers strength, stability, and long-lasting durability under pressure. Its distinctive hump design allows for controlled flexibility, reducing stress on pipework and components while maintaining a secure connection. Built to SAEJ20R3 standards, Silicone Hump Hose provides excellent resistance to high temperatures, ozone, and environmental ageing, making it ideal for demanding fluid, air, and coolant transfer applications. With an operating range of -50°C to +250°C, it offers consistent performance in extreme environments.

Key Features:

  • Material: Smooth extruded silicone compound with a silicone outer layer.

  • Reinforcement: 3–4 ply polyester braids for strength and pressure resistance.

  • Design: Hump profile for vibration absorption and slight misalignment compensation.

  • Operating Temperature: -50°C to +250°C.

  • Working Pressure: 2.8 bar to 5.5 bar depending on diameter.

  • Burst Pressure: 8.5 bar to 16 bar (3:1 safety factor).

  • Internal Diameter Range: 25 mm to 102 mm.

  • Wall Thickness: 4.5 mm to 5.5 mm depending on size.

  • Length: Standard 102 mm overall length.

  • Standard: SAEJ20R3 compliant.

The high-grade silicone construction ensures outstanding heat resistance, durability, and resilience against ozone and weathering, extending service life even in extreme operating environments. Polyester braid reinforcement adds dimensional stability under pressure while maintaining flexibility for installation in tight or vibrating systems. The hump design is specifically engineered to accommodate movement and vibration, reducing the risk of hose fatigue and failure over time.

Applications include automotive intercooler and turbocharger systems, marine engine connections, coolant and air transfer in performance vehicles, and industrial machinery where vibration absorption and flexibility are essential. Silicone Hump Hose provides a robust, long-lasting solution for high-temperature, high-performance fluid and air handling systems.

How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Silicone stretches slightly. If you land between sizes, go down to the smaller bore for a tight seal — never up.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

Silicone Hump Connector

✅ 100mm Long ✅ High Temp ✅ High Pressure

What is it used for?

The raised hump absorbs vibration and takes up slight misalignment between two pipe stubs without passing that movement into the rest of the pipework - use one wherever an engine moves relative to a fixed pipe. Being silicone rather than a rigid joint, it also absorbs a little vibration and tolerates minor misalignment.

What size do I order?

Order by internal diameter, matched to the outside diameter of the pipe stubs it joins. Measure the pipe with vernier callipers, not the old hose. Available in internal diameters from 25mm to 102mm, in blue, black and red.

How much pipe should be inside it?

At least 25mm engaged at each end on smaller bores and proportionally more on larger ones, with the clip sitting squarely over the supported section rather than near the open end. That is why 50mm is the practical minimum length for a straightforward join.

What is it rated for?

Built to SAE J20 R3 with polyester braid reinforcement. Smaller bores are 3 ply and larger bores step up to 4 ply - each size is built with the reinforcement it needs, so you do not have to specify it. Working pressure runs from 5.5 bar on the smallest bore down to 2.83 bar on the largest, with burst pressure from 16 bar down to 8.5 bar across the 25mm to 102mm range.

Can it carry fuel or oil?

No - standard silicone swells and breaks down in contact with hydrocarbons. Use our fluorolined coupler, built to SAE J30 R6, for fuel, oil, breather and catch-can work.

Can it join two different sized pipes?

No - stretching it over an oversized stub gives an uneven seal and a joint that creeps loose. Use a reducer, which is moulded with a proper tapered transition. We stock straight reducers in 61 size pairings from 12mm to 8mm up to 127mm to 102mm.
