Silicone 90° Reducing Elbow is a reinforced high-performance hose designed to connect pipes of different diameters while providing a smooth 90-degree bend. Built with a smooth extruded silicone compound inner layer, polyester braid reinforcement, and a durable silicone outer layer, the elbow offers excellent strength, flexibility, and resistance to heat and pressure. The reducing elbow design simplifies system layouts by combining size transition with angled routing, reducing the need for multiple connectors. Conforming to SAE J20 R3 standards, this multi-ply hose operates effectively across a temperature range of -50°C to +250°C, making it suitable for demanding automotive, marine, and industrial environments. Available in diameters from 6.5 mm to 127 mm with 150 mm leg lengths, the silicone reducing elbow provides reliable performance for coolant, air, and fluid handling systems.

Key Features:

  • Inner Layer: Smooth extruded silicone compound for efficient sealing and flow.

  • Reinforcement: Polyester braids for dimensional stability and pressure resistance.

  • Outer Layer: High-quality silicone offering thermal, ozone, and abrasion resistance.

  • Construction: 3–4 ply reinforced wall with 150 mm leg length for secure fitment.

  • Operating Temperature: -50°C to +250°C (peak +250°C).

  • Internal Diameter Range: 6.5 mm to 127 mm.

  • Working Pressure: From 12.33 bar (small bore) down to 1.9 bar (large bore).

  • Bursting Pressure: Typically 3x working pressure (up to 37 bar).

  • Bend Angle: 90° with reducing bore transition.

  • Standard: SAE J20 R3 compliant.

The silicone 90° reducing elbow is engineered to provide secure and durable connections where both size reduction and angular routing are required. The polyester reinforcement ensures dimensional stability and consistent pressure performance, while the silicone layers deliver resistance to heat, ozone, and environmental degradation. The smooth bore design promotes efficient fluid transfer with minimal turbulence, while the reinforced wall ensures durability under vibration, thermal cycling, and continuous use. With working pressures from 12.33 bar for small diameters down

How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Silicone stretches slightly. If you land between sizes, go down to the smaller bore for a tight seal — never up.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

90 Degree Reducing Silicone Elbow Hose

✅ 150mm Leg ✅ 300mm Long ✅ 3 & 4 Ply

What size do I order?

Order by internal diameter, matched to the outside diameter of the metal pipe or stub the elbow slides onto. Measure the pipe itself with vernier callipers, not the hose you are replacing - hose stretches in service and reads a size large. Available in internal diameters from 16mm To 13mm to 127mm To 90mm, in black, red and blue.

How long are the legs?

150mm on each side, giving 300mm total length. That leaves plenty of material to trim back to the length you need. If you cut them down, leave at least 25-30mm of straight leg beyond the bend so the clip seats on a supported section - never let a clip end up sitting on the curve, because it will not seal evenly there.

What temperature and pressure will it take?

Continuous service from -50C to +250C, built to SAE J20 R3. Working pressure runs from 12.33 bar on the smallest bore down to 1.9 bar on the largest, with burst pressure from 37 bar down to 5.7 bar across the 6.5mm to 127mm range. For context, a car cooling system typically runs at 1 to 1.5 bar and well under 120C, so there is a substantial margin.

How is it constructed, and how many plies?

A smooth extruded silicone compound inner layer, polyester braid reinforcement, and a durable silicone outer layer that resists heat, ozone and abrasion. Smaller bores are 3 ply and larger bores step up to 4 ply - each size is built with the reinforcement it needs, so you do not have to specify it. Wall thickness runs from 4.5mm to 5.5mm depending on bore.

Can I use it for fuel or oil?

No. This is standard silicone, which is excellent with coolant, water and air but swells and breaks down in contact with petrol, diesel or oil - and that includes breather and catch-can lines, which carry oil mist. For anything with hydrocarbons in it, use our Fuel & Oil range, which has a fluorosilicone liner built to SAE J30 R6.

What is the bend radius?

Bend radius runs from 16mm on the smallest bore to 98mm on the largest. That is the radius the elbow is moulded to, so the bore stays fully round through the bend and flow is not restricted - which is exactly why a moulded elbow beats bending a straight hose round the same corner.
