Silicone 45° Elbow Hose is a high-performance connector designed for coolant, air, and fluid transfer in automotive, marine, and industrial applications. Constructed with a smooth extruded silicone compound inner layer, reinforced by strong polyester braids, and finished with a durable silicone outer layer, this hose delivers excellent flexibility, pressure stability, and heat resistance. The 45-degree bend with 150 mm legs allows efficient routing in compact or angled systems, reducing the need for additional fittings. Built to SAE J20 R3 standards, this multi-ply hose operates reliably from -50°C to +250°C, making it suitable for demanding environments where conventional hoses may degrade. Available in diameters ranging from 6.5 mm to 102 mm, the silicone elbow ensures versatile compatibility across multiple fluid handling systems.

Key Features:

  • Inner Layer: Smooth extruded silicone compound for durability and flexibility.

  • Reinforcement: Polyester braids for pressure resistance and dimensional stability.

  • Outer Layer: High-quality silicone offering thermal, ozone, and abrasion resistance.

  • Construction: 3–4 ply design with 150 mm leg lengths for secure fitment.

  • Operating Temperature: -50°C to +250°C (peak +250°C).

  • Internal Diameter Range: 6.5 mm to 102 mm.

  • Working Pressure: From 12.33 bar (small bore) down to 2.8 bar (large bore).

  • Bursting Pressure: Typically 3x working pressure (up to 37 bar).

  • Bend Angle: 45° with 150 mm leg lengths for reliable installation.

  • Standard: SAE J20 R3 compliant.

The silicone elbow’s reinforced multi-ply structure provides reliable pressure handling and durability in both low- and high-temperature environments. Its smooth bore supports efficient coolant and air transfer with minimal flow resistance, while the silicone exterior resists cracking, ozone, and long-term environmental exposure. Polyester braid reinforcement maintains structural integrity and pressure stability, making the hose suitable for use in systems subject to vibration and thermal cycling. With working pressures up to 12.33 bar in smaller diameters and burst ratings up to 37 bar, the hose offers a strong safety margin across a wide range of applications. The angled design reduces the need for multiple connectors, simplifying system layout and improving flow efficiency.

Applications include automotive coolant and air systems, turbocharger and intercooler connections, marine cooling circuits, motorsport performance builds, agricultural engines, and industrial machinery requiring durable angled connections. Silicone 45° elbow hoses are also widely used in custom fabrication, heavy-duty maintenance, and high-performance upgrades. Keywords: silicone 45-degree elbow hose, reinforced silicone coolant elbow, high-temperature silicone hose bend, SAE J20 R3 compliant hose, industrial silicone elbow, angled silicone coolant connector.

How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Silicone stretches slightly. If you land between sizes, go down to the smaller bore for a tight seal — never up.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

45 Degree Silicone Elbow Hose

✅ 150mm Leg ✅ 300mm Long ✅ 3 & 4 Ply

What size do I order?

Order by internal diameter, matched to the outside diameter of the metal pipe or stub the elbow slides onto. Measure the pipe itself with vernier callipers, not the hose you are replacing - hose stretches in service and reads a size large. Available in internal diameters from 6mm to 102mm, in black, blue and red.

How long are the legs?

150mm on each side, giving 300mm total length. That leaves plenty of material to trim back to the length you need. If you cut them down, leave at least 25-30mm of straight leg beyond the bend so the clip seats on a supported section - never let a clip end up sitting on the curve, because it will not seal evenly there.

What temperature and pressure will it take?

Continuous service from -50C to +250C, built to SAE J20 R3. Working pressure runs from 12.33 bar on the smallest bore down to 2.8 bar on the largest, with burst pressure from 37 bar down to 8.5 bar across the 6.5mm to 102mm range. For context, a car cooling system typically runs at 1 to 1.5 bar and well under 120C, so there is a substantial margin.

How is it constructed, and how many plies?

A smooth extruded silicone compound inner layer, polyester braid reinforcement, and a durable silicone outer layer that resists heat, ozone and abrasion. Smaller bores are 3 ply and larger bores step up to 4 ply - each size is built with the reinforcement it needs, so you do not have to specify it. Wall thickness runs from 4.5mm to 5.5mm depending on bore.

Can I use it for fuel or oil?

No. This is standard silicone, which is excellent with coolant, water and air but swells and breaks down in contact with petrol, diesel or oil - and that includes breather and catch-can lines, which carry oil mist. For anything with hydrocarbons in it, use our Fuel & Oil range, which has a fluorosilicone liner built to SAE J30 R6.

What is the bend radius?

Bend radius runs from 16mm on the smallest bore to 70mm on the largest. That is the radius the elbow is moulded to, so the bore stays fully round through the bend and flow is not restricted - which is exactly why a moulded elbow beats bending a straight hose round the same corner.
