Rubber 45 Degree Elbow is a high-performance connector hose designed for coolant, air, and water transfer in automotive, agricultural, and industrial systems. Constructed from smooth heat-resistant EPDM rubber and reinforced with high-tensile fibre yarn, the elbow provides excellent flexibility, durability, and pressure resistance. Its precision-moulded 45-degree bend allows for reliable directional changes in tight spaces while maintaining consistent flow. Built to SAEJ20R3 standards, the hose is resistant to heat, ageing, and ozone, making it suitable for demanding environments where long service life is essential. With a wide operating temperature range of -30°C to +125°C (and short-term peaks up to +145°C), Rubber 45 Degree Elbow ensures reliable performance across a variety of fluid handling systems.

Key Features:

  • Material: Smooth heat-resistant EPDM rubber for durability and flexibility.

  • Reinforcement: High-tensile fibre yarn for pressure strength and stability.

  • Design: Precision-moulded 45-degree elbow for directional hose connections.

  • Operating Temperature: -30°C to +125°C (peak +145°C).

  • Working Pressure: 10 bar across all sizes.

  • Burst Pressure: 30 bar (3:1 safety factor).

  • Internal Diameter Range: 9.5 mm to 76 mm.

  • Wall Thickness: 4.5 mm across all sizes.

  • Leg Length: 150 mm per leg.

  • Standard: SAEJ20R3 compliant.

The EPDM rubber construction provides superior resistance to heat, weathering, and ozone, ensuring long-lasting performance in demanding environments. Its smooth bore supports efficient flow while the fibre reinforcement delivers consistent pressure handling and dimensional stability. The moulded 45-degree angle allows for compact installations where sharp bends are needed, helping to reduce kinking and maintain flow efficiency. With a burst pressure rating three times higher than its working pressure, the hose offers a dependable margin of safety for a wide range of operating conditions.

Applications include coolant and heating systems in vehicles, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, marine engines, and industrial fluid transfer setups. Rubber 45 Degree Elbow is widely used where reliability, heat resistance, and flexibility are critical, providing a robust solution for coolant, air, and water handling in automotive, industrial, and agricultural systems.

How to measure ID

ID OD wall reinforcement plies ID = bore · OD = ID + (2 × wall)
1
Measure the pipe, not the old hose
Heat and age make a used hose swell and go out of round. Take your reading across the metal outlet the hose slides onto — that measurement is your ID.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point of the pipe. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the pipe is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still seals.
4
Round to the nearest listed bore
Never go up: a bore wider than the fitting will not grip, whatever the hose is made of. If you land between listed sizes take the smaller bore, and secure it with a clip.
Order by ID, always. Every hose on this site is listed by internal diameter. OD is given for clearance only — it changes with wall thickness and ply count, so it is never the ordering size. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

Rubber 45 Degree Radiator Elbows

✅ 150mm Leg ✅ 300mm Total ✅ EPDM Rubber

What is it for?

Turning a corner in a coolant, air or water run without kinking. A moulded elbow keeps the bore round through the bend, so flow is not restricted and the hose will not collapse - which is what happens if you bend a straight hose round the same corner.

What size do I order?

Order by internal diameter, matched to the outside diameter of the pipe stub the elbow slides onto. Measure the pipe with vernier callipers rather than the old hose. Available in internal diameters from 10mm to 76mm.

How long are the legs?

150mm on each side, giving 300mm total length. Trim with a sharp blade, leaving at least 25-30mm of straight leg beyond the bend so the clip seats on a supported section. Never let a clip end up on the curve of the bend.

What is it rated for?

EPDM rubber built to SAE J20 R3 with high-tensile fibre yarn reinforcement, glycol rated for standard antifreeze mixes. That is the specification used for virtually all original-equipment coolant hose.

Can I use it for fuel or oil?

No - EPDM has poor resistance to hydrocarbons and will soften and swell. For fuel and oil use our SAE J30 R6 rubber hose or a fluorosilicone-lined silicone elbow.

Rubber or silicone elbow?

Rubber is the like-for-like replacement, cheaper, and matches the original look on a standard vehicle. Silicone handles far higher temperatures and does not perish with age, so it is the better choice if the vehicle runs hot or access is poor enough that you do not want to do the job again.
