180° Aluminium Elbow is a precision-formed alloy U-bend designed for lightweight and corrosion-resistant pipework connections. Manufactured from high-grade T6063 aluminium, the elbow combines strength and durability with reduced weight compared to steel alternatives, making it ideal for automotive, marine, agricultural, and industrial use. With smooth internal walls for efficient flow and a polished finish for both protection and appearance, the elbow is engineered to perform in demanding environments. The 180° bend with equal 100 mm leg lengths provides a compact solution for U-shaped routing in hose and pipework systems, reducing the need for multiple joiners and maintaining smooth airflow or fluid transfer.

Key Features:

  • Material: T6063 aluminium alloy for strength, corrosion resistance, and lightweight performance.

  • Construction: Precision-formed 180° U-bend with smooth bore and polished surface.

  • Bend Angle: 180° with equal 100 mm leg lengths for secure coupling.

  • Wall Thickness: 1.6 mm across all sizes.

  • Outside Diameter Range: Available from 13 mm up to 102 mm.

  • Operating Temperature: -40°C to +220°C (peak +240°C).

  • Compatibility: Designed for use with reinforced silicone or rubber hoses secured by clamps.

  • Applications: Turbocharger and intercooler systems, coolant pipework, air induction routing, marine cooling, agricultural machinery, and general industrial fluid transfer.

Constructed from high-grade T6063 aluminium, the elbow offers excellent corrosion resistance and a strong yet lightweight structure, making it particularly suitable for high-performance applications. The 180° U-bend design allows for efficient reversal of flow direction, reducing the need for multiple angled connectors and maintaining system efficiency. With a smooth bore, the elbow minimises turbulence and pressure drop, while its polished finish protects against oxidation and enhances appearance. Easy to install with clamps, it integrates seamlessly with reinforced silicone and rubber hoses, providing a professional solution for both maintenance and custom fabrication projects.

Applications include turbocharger and intercooler pipework, automotive cooling and induction systems, marine engine cooling layouts, agricultural machinery, and industrial pipework installations. 180° Aluminium Elbows are widely used in custom fabrication, motorsport, and engineering projects where lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and durable U-bend pipework is required.

How to measure OD

hose fits over OD bore OD = the surface the hose clamps onto
1
Measure across the outside
Rigid pipe, tube and joiners are sized by the outer wall, because that is the surface a hose seals against. The bore and wall thickness follow from it — they are not the ordering size.
2
Use vernier calipers
Set the outer jaws across the widest point. A tape measure round a curve reads low by a millimetre or two — enough to buy the wrong size.
3
Take three readings, keep the largest
Rotate 60° between each. If they disagree the tube is oval; size to the biggest figure so the hose still clamps down evenly.
4
Match the hose to this OD
The hose sleeves over the tube, so the hose you want is the one whose internal diameter equals this outside diameter. A 51 mm tube takes a 51 mm ID hose.
Order by OD, always. Tube, rigid pipe and joiners are listed by outside diameter — the surface the hose clamps onto. Pair one with a hose of the same ID. On reducers, quote both ends, largest first.

180 Degree Aluminium Elbow

✅ -40°C to +220°C ✅ 100mm Leg ✅200mm Total

What is it used for?

Changing the direction of a hard pipework run - intake, boost, coolant and industrial pipework - without using a flexible hose. A metal elbow holds its shape under pressure and keeps the bore round for flow.

What size do I order?

Order by outside diameter, because that is what your hose or coupler slides over - match it to the internal diameter of the silicone or rubber hose you are using. Measure with vernier callipers rather than a tape. Available in outside diameters from 13mm to 102mm.

What material and rating is it?

T6063 aluminium alloy with a 1.6mm wall, rated -40C to +220C. T6063 gives good strength and corrosion resistance at low weight, sheds heat well, and will not rust like mild steel.

What leg lengths does it have?

100mm on each side, giving 200mm total length. Trim from the plain section if you need it shorter, leaving at least 25-30mm of straight leg beyond the bend for the hose and clamp to seat on, and deburr inside and out so the edge cannot score the hose bore.

Are the ends beaded, and does it matter?

Yes - each end is formed with a bead, so the clamp pulls the hose down behind a raised lip rather than relying on friction alone. That is what stops a joint blowing off under boost, and it is why beaded parts are the right choice for charge air pipework.

Aluminium or stainless - which should I choose?

Aluminium is lighter, cheaper and rejects heat faster, which makes it the usual choice for intercooler and intake pipework. Stainless is stronger, far better in salt environments and takes a superior polish, so it suits marine work and visible show pipework. Both are rated -40C to +220C and can be mixed in one system.
