Edelstahlklemmen

Schellen der W-Serie für zuverlässige, korrosionsbeständige Schlauchverbindungen.

Which stainless clamp do I need?

Worm drive clips for general coolant, water and low-pressure air. T-bolt clamps for boost, intercooler and turbo pipework and anywhere with real vibration. Mini fuel clips for small-bore fuel, oil, air and water lines. All are available in W4 stainless, in singles, 10 and 100 packs and assorted boxes.

What is the difference between W1 and W4?

W1 is zinc-plated steel - cheaper, fine for dry indoor and general workshop use. W4 is stainless throughout, which is what you want for weather, coolant, road salt or a marine environment. Given that a seized or failed clip in an awkward place costs far more than the clip did, W4 is usually the sensible choice.

Is W4 fully stainless?

Yes - band, housing and screw. That matters more than it sounds: some cheaper clips sold as stainless use a stainless band with a plated screw, which is the part that seizes first. If the screw corrodes, the clip cannot be adjusted or removed without cutting it off.

How do I choose the size?

Size to the outside diameter of the hose once fitted over the pipe, not to the hose bore. Clips are listed by adjustment range - for example 9mm to 12mm - and your fitted diameter should sit around the middle of that range. A clip at the very end of its travel has almost no thread engaged.

Why use a T-bolt instead of a worm drive?

A worm drive concentrates its force near the screw housing and its perforated band can bite into soft silicone. A T-bolt applies even pressure right round the joint with a smooth inner band and holds tension through heat cycling far better. On any pressurised charge air joint, the T-bolt is the correct part.

How tight should they be?

Firm, not crushed. Compress the hose evenly against the pipe without the band biting in - over-tightening is a more common cause of leaks than under-tightening. Re-check after the first few heat cycles, because a new joint beds in and a clip that felt tight when cold often needs a small nip.
