What is double stitch diamond fabric?

Quilted faux leather with a diamond pattern stitched into it in a double row, giving a padded, tailored look without you having to quilt it yourself. It is used for vehicle and campervan interior trim - door cards, panels, seat and bunk facings, headboards and furniture.

What colours are available?

White, black, blue, green, purple, red, orange and silver - eight colours. That makes matching or contrasting against a van lining carpet straightforward, and there is enough range to do a two-tone interior without having to source from two suppliers.

Is it real leather?

No - it is faux leather, which for this application is generally the better choice. It is more consistent across a roll, far cheaper, easier to clean, and does not dry or crack in a vehicle interior that gets very hot in summer sun. It also cuts and works more predictably than hide.

What is it used for in a van conversion?

Trim panels, door cards, bulkhead facings, seat and bunk fronts, headboards and cupboard doors. The quilting hides minor imperfections in whatever is underneath, which is useful on home-built furniture, and it gives a finished interior a considerably more professional look than plain board.

How do I fit it?

Bond it with a high-temperature contact spray adhesive - we stock Ultra Adhesive and Trimfix. Spray both surfaces, let them tack off, then bond from the centre outwards, easing the material rather than stretching the quilting out of shape. Wrap and glue the edges round the back of the panel for a clean finish.

How much do I need?

Measure each panel, add for wrapping the edges round the back, and add a margin for matching the diamond pattern across adjoining panels - that last point catches people out. Order in one go: a second batch may not align or match exactly, which shows badly on a quilted material.
