What braided hoses do you stock?

Rubber stainless steel overbraid hose to SAE J30 R6 in 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm bores, and AN6 PTFE lined stainless steel braided hose. Both use a 304 stainless outer braid; the difference is what is inside it and what fittings they take.

Rubber-lined or PTFE-lined?

Rubber-lined is more flexible, cheaper and fine for petrol, diesel and oil including E5 and E10. PTFE-lined is chemically inert and essentially impermeable, which makes it the choice for E85, methanol, high-pressure injection and anywhere fuel smell through the wall matters. PTFE is stiffer to route.

What does the stainless braid actually do?

Three things: it takes the pressure alongside the inner reinforcement, it protects the hose from abrasion and chafing, and it shields against radiant heat from exhausts and turbos. It also stops the hose ballooning under pressure, which keeps the bore consistent.

Can I use hose clips on braided hose?

Not on the braid alone - a worm drive clip bites into the stainless strands and can cut them. Braided hose is designed to terminate in a proper AN or crimped fitting that grips evenly all the way round. If you must use a clip at low pressure, use a wide band and do not over-tighten.

How do I cut it without the braid fraying?

Wrap the cut area tightly in tape, cut through the tape with a sharp cut-off wheel or proper hose shears, then remove the tape. That keeps the braid together, which makes fitting the hose end far easier and considerably safer on your hands.

What sizes and lengths are available?

The rubber overbraid hose comes in 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm bores, cut to order from 1 metre up to a 30 metre coil. The PTFE lined hose is AN6. Order by internal diameter, and allow a little extra outside clearance because the braid adds to the overall diameter.
