What ducting is in this range?
PVC corrugated reinforced flexible hose in 19mm to 51mm, and polyurethane PU ducting in 38mm to 300mm. Both have a wire helix in the wall so they resist crushing and will not collapse under suction, which is what separates ducting from plain flexible hose.

PVC or polyurethane - which do I need?
Polyurethane if anything abrasive is passing through - wood chips, grit, grain - because PVC wears through at the bends within a season under that duty. PVC is cheaper and perfectly adequate for clean air, fine dust and fume. Polyurethane also handles a wider temperature range.

What temperature will they take?
PVC runs -10C to +65C; polyurethane runs -40C to +90C. Neither is a high-temperature product. If the duct is anywhere near hot process air, an engine or an exhaust, you need silicone air ducting at -70C to +310C or aluminium semi-flexible at -30C to +150C.

Can they be used on the suction side of a fan?
Yes - that is what the embedded wire helix is for. Both hold their bore under negative pressure, so they work on both the pressure and suction sides of a fan or extractor. A duct without a helix simply pulls shut the moment you apply vacuum.

How do I join lengths together?
Use a duct connector sized to the bore and secure each side with a worm drive clip or ducting clamp. We stock ABS male and reducing connectors for PU ducting in 50mm to 200mm outside diameter, covering 20 reducing pairings from 65mm to 50mm up to 200mm to 150mm.

How do I cut ducting to length?
Cut the wall between the helix coils with a sharp knife, then cut the wire with side cutters, and tape or dress the cut wire end so it cannot work through the wall or catch a hand. Leave enough material beyond the last coil for the connector and clip to seat on.
