What is the Classic Wrapped straight hose?

A 1 metre reinforced silicone hose with a fluorosilicone inner layer, multiple polyester braid plies and a cloth-wrapped silicone outer that gives a period appearance. Built to SAE J30 R6 for fuel and oil, available in 13mm to 51mm internal diameter, in black.

Why is it wrapped rather than smooth?

Appearance. On a classic, vintage or restoration engine bay, a smooth glossy silicone hose looks obviously modern and out of place. The cloth-wrapped finish reads as period rubber while the fluorosilicone construction underneath gives modern fuel compatibility and silicone durability.

Can it carry fuel as well as oil?

Yes - it is built to SAE J30 R6 with a fluorosilicone inner layer, so it handles petrol, diesel, oils and fuel vapour including E5 and E10 pump fuel. That is the main reason to fit it to an older vehicle whose original hose was never made for ethanol-blended fuel.

What temperature will it take?

-60C to +180C with a +200C peak. That is narrower at the top than plain silicone at +250C, which is the trade-off for hydrocarbon resistance - and still far beyond what the period rubber hose it replaces could manage.

What sizes and lengths?

Nine sizes from 13mm to 51mm internal diameter, supplied in 1 metre lengths. Order by internal diameter matched to the outside diameter of the pipe stub. Measure the pipe with vernier callipers rather than the old hose, which stretches in service and reads large.

Will it look right on a concours car?

It reads as period at normal viewing distance, which is what most owners want. If you are being judged to an exacting original-parts standard, check what the class rules allow - some permit modern materials in period finish, some do not. For a driven classic it is a sensible choice either way.
