What air filter accessories do you stock?

Filtech air filter reducing rubber rings, worm drive hose clips for securing filters to intake pipework, and flexible and rigid clip drivers for getting at those clips in the confined space behind a filter. The practical bits that make an induction install work rather than nearly work.

What are the reducing rings for?

Adapting a filter neck down to a smaller intake pipe. The set gives five rings covering 85mm down to 63mm, rated -40C to +120C, so one filter can fit a range of pipe diameters. It saves buying a different filter for each build and lets you reuse a filter if the pipework changes.

How do I fit a filter to my intake?

Match the filter neck or reducing ring to your pipe outside diameter, slide it fully on, and clamp it with a worm drive clip - or a T-bolt on a boosted installation. Make sure the filter is properly supported and cannot rest against the bonnet, a bracket or the exhaust.

Which clip should I use on a filter?

A stainless worm drive clip is right for most naturally aspirated installs. Size it to the outside diameter of the filter neck once fitted, aiming for the middle of the clip's range. On anything pressurised, or where vibration is heavy, step up to a T-bolt clamp.

Why do I need a clip driver?

Because filter clips are almost always somewhere awkward - low down behind the filter, at an angle you cannot get a screwdriver onto squarely. The flexible shaft driver bends round obstructions to reach them; the rigid version gives more direct torque where access is better. Both take a 7mm hex.

Do I need a heat shield too?

If the filter sits in the engine bay drawing hot air, yes - it makes a measurable difference. An open filter breathing hot engine bay air undoes much of what the filter gained you. We stock an aluminium heat shield for 2.25 to 3.5 inch filters, in silver or black.
